Beer FAQs
How often do you brew?
2-3 times a week. But no less than twice a week.
How do you choose what to brew next?
If it’s in season, Adam will probably do it. (Pumpkin Ale anyone?)
But it’s usually whatever Adam feels like brewing or is craving that week.
How long does it take to brew a beer?
It takes between 4hr - 8hrs on average to brew the beer (depending on the kind of beer).
Then it takes an additional 2 weeks (at least) for the beer to ferment before you can drink it.
How do you figure out how much alcohol is in your beer?
It’s a 3-step process:
1) Figure out the original gravity (OG) of the beer.
To do this, use a hydrometer to measure how much sugar is left in the wort.
2) After the beer has fermented, take another reading with the hydrometer. This reading is the final gravity (FG).
3) Do some math:
(OG - FG) x 131.25* = alcohol
*131.25 is the avg amount of pure sugar dissolved in a gallon of water.
